If you’re a hot rod traditionalist, you might want to click away from this article. Now that you’ve all been warned, we think you’ll be in for a treat when you see what this particular 1932 Ford has to offer.
Hailing from Spring Hill, Florida, this little roadster looks absolutely fantastic in its Champagne gold paint and Dark Brown interior. The description makes the dubious and likely inflated claim that the car is “one of only 10 built,” attributing the customized top (which folds up behind the seats) to a modification that apparently only took place on nine other ’32 Fords.
Nevertheless, the Ford does have to its credit a noteworthy secret under the gull-wing hood: an LS1, seemingly sourced from a C5. Even as tacky as some may find them, the plastic engine cover and its exterior-matched paint are a swell surprise to the curious onlooker.
Some may argue that an LS motor has no place in a ’32 Ford, arguing that the only V8 deserving of such a position was the venerable old flathead. Now, no one is here to argue that flatheads are boring, stuffy hunks of iron (Ron Main and his land speed record of 302.2 mph in 2002 put that argument to rest), but better ignition, lighter weight, and a more balanced firing order are a few of the things the LS1 has going for it.
The 4L60 transmission puts horsepower and torque out to the Positraction rearend, while disc brakes on all fours keep everything under control. The auction has a few more hours to go before it wraps up for good, but for a Buy It Now price of $40,000, we’re a little skeptical as to its chances.
