The company may be well and truly dead, but never let it be said that the flame has died out for dear old Pontiac. Over the years, the performance arm of GM brought us some fantastic automobiles, like the GTO, the G8, the Solstice, and yes, even the Fiero.

By far, however, the brand has made most of its cultural awareness through the Firebird. First made in 1967 and produced all the way up until 2002, the muscle car was the chosen ride of enthusiasts and movie icons alike, whether it was the base model used throughout The Rockford Files, the electrified 3rd Gen “KITT” from Knight Rider, or the 1977 “Bandit” Trans Am from Smokey and The Bandit.

The last of these has long enjoyed a long and vast admiration from those of us obsessed with musclecars, and Pontiac made sure in the years following its introduction to include the stylish and attention-grabbing graphics on succeeding generations. However, the automaker suffered a cruel twist of fate following the General Motors meltdown of 2009, and was subsequently axed alongside Hummer and Saturn in order to save the sinking ship.

Nevertheless, the passion for the Firebird has lived on, so much so that we find specimens like this 2013 1LS Camaro, which underwent a “Trans Am” conversion courtesy of Z/TA. Changes to the hood, front fenders, bumpers, and spoiler addition get the F-body sibling looking as close to the real thing as possible.

It’s for sale now through Walters Elkland Chevrolet, at an agreeable price of $26,995.
