It was a very rough weekend for Spectre Performance’s slick Carbon Camaro. The folks from Spectre were out at Goodguys Rod and Custom Association’s 22nd Annual “Autumn Get-Together” on November 13th, in Pleasanton, California with the Carbon Camaro to compete in the event’s autocross. Spectre reported on their blog that designated hot-shoe, Brandy Morrow, was glad to be back in the Carbon Camaro after running the Spectre El Camino consecutively at several previous events. The Carbon Camaro is no stranger to victory on the autocross course, and Morrow has been very successful behind the wheel.
Morrow took the Carbon Camaro for a spin around the cones, and a slight mishap left the wicked 1970 Camaro with a bit of a shiner. After the accident, Morrow posted a picture of the damage on the Spectre’s blog and said, “5 mph is still too quick to nick an immovable object. It looks worse than it is! Really.”
As you might remember from our previous coverage of the car, the Carbon Camaro is powered by a built LS1 pushing 410 horsepower to the ground. The car rides on a ful Hotchkis suspension, and some super wide, super sticky Kuhmo tires and Forgeline wheels keep the car glued to the road. The car gets its name from the Anvil Carbon Fiber products that are featured throughout the car – especially on the front where the majority of the damage was sustained.
Accidents like this suck, but they are usually a great excuse to make a car even better than before. We can’t wait to see the Carbon Camaro back in action in 2012.
