If ever there were a case for cosmic karma needing a quick turnaround, it has to be here in the case of Corvette7 forum member Schlock, whose pristine 2015 Stingray Z06 was parked and sitting pretty one night, but come morning, was stripped of its wheels and tires. Schlock, who lives in Arlington, Virginia, put the word out on the discussion board at 10:15 a.m. on February 5th, asking for his fellow enthusiasts to keep their eyes peeled for newly listed postings in the area.
More details filtered out as time went by. Reportedly, a few witnesses watched a three-man group do its evil deed on the Corvette: jacking it up (which engaged the alarm), slipping wooden blocks in the middle, lowering it, removing the wheels, and ditching the crime scene, all in a matter of minutes. The witnesses failed to call the police, much to the consternation of Schlock.
“[The tilt sensors] did set [the alarm] off, they didn’t care and I couldn’t hear it from where my gf’s apartment is,” wrote Schlock. “The car was right in front and someone else talked to me last week to say ‘I saw what happened but figured it was just three guys working on their car….’ ugh…”
On February 8th, GM Roadside Assistance showed up and did its best to get the car off the street. The C7 was finally strapped in and carted away to a more secure location for the time being, but Schlock was ticked off after learning GMRA wouldn’t make an attempt to either locate the stolen wheels and tires, or set up the owner with new ones instead.
Some good news arrived on Wednesday, however. Schlock said that while he was still waiting on rims, the dealership had ordered his tires. Nobody has reported any suspicious classifieds in the days since, but those wayward wheels are bound to show up sooner or later.
