Let’s face is, Australian cars are awesome. If we can’t agree on that, then we’ll never be able to agree on anything. While we got a little taste of the Australian influence here in the states with cars like the Pontiac GTO and Pontiac G8/Chevy SS, we still have yet to see many of the most awesome cars that Australia has to offer, from GM and Ford alike.

Perhaps one of the most interesting creations of the land down under is GM’s Holden Utility or Ute for short. If you’re unfamiliar with the car, it shares the body features of an old school El Camino, except the modern Ute is about 100 times cooler. The Ute comes in handy when a turbo pickup just won’t do. Many car enthusiasts here in the states have lusted after this car for years, and finally, a Colorado company known as “Left Hand Utes” has been importing Ute bodies and constructing their very own American edition of the Australian classic.

Depending on what model tickles your fancy, a Caprice PPV, Pontiac G8, or Pontiac GTO will be used as a base for your brand new/used utility vehicle. As far as getting it registered, all cars that come from this operation are legally titled as kit cars. Last but not least, they promise the retention of all the factory safety features. No worries when driving your Aussie cruiser. 

This idea is super cool and could definitely be profitable with the huge following that Australian cars have garnered in the states. Rumor has it the shop is barely able to wrap up building a Ute without having it sold. Think about the expansion possibilities as well – Ford Falcon anyone? Our only question is, where do we sign up!?
