AEM‘s top-tier electronics have found success in a wide variety of applications, from drag racing to Formula Drift to road racing. One recent victory came in the form of Andy Lee and his black-and-yellow Z/28 Camaro, both of which made a big impression at Round 15 of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) in Sonoma, California.

Competing in the GTS (Grand Touring Sport) class, Lee and his Bondurant Racing/Laguna Bicycles team have had a stellar year thus far. It’s all thanks to the man’s skill, his crew’s tenacity, and the car’s capabilities when pushed to the limits. Round 15 saw Lee take pole position, set the fastest lap, and win first place; in fact, this latest race in Sonoma marked Lee’s sixth PWC career victory.

Lee and his Camaro stunned everyone at Round 15 by taking the pole, setting the fastest lap, and snagging first place in the GTS class.

“After all of the work my guys have poured into this season, taking the pole, setting a track record and winning all in one weekend makes it that much sweeter,” commented Lee. “My team has worked very hard on our Z/28 Camaro’s set up, but the one thing we never worry about is engine control. Winning isn’t easy, and getting every bit of power out of our engine is so crucial. We are able to do that with the Infinity, and that absolutely helped us secure the first win of this year.”

Collecting and analyzing data is a huge part of the team’s operations, and AEM’s Infinity ECU and Infinity Plug & Play wiring harness have made this task possible. Critical information gathered from the factory and AEM sensors after practice, qualifying, and race sessions allows the crew to recognize areas that need improvement. Meanwhile, AEM smart coils always deliver consistent spark energy and optimum combustion as well.

Next for Lee will be the final round, Round 17, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, taking place September 11th, through Sunday, September 13th.
