Like any irresistible recipe, it is all about finding the right blend of flavors to bring out the tastiness of any sweet project build. Gordon K Macrae, of Houston, began his tasty project build with a GM Bow Tie LSX race block set into his 2005 base model Corvette. He next dropped on a Z06 body to create his Pièce de résistance.
Originally a native of Scotland, upon moving to the United States as a young man, Macrae quickly became immersed into the world of the performance car scene when he befriended a few of the local gearhead wrenchers from his new found American neighborhood. A time of Macrae’s life he cherishes most, as he gained some of the strongest friendships he would ever have and experience through a common love of the four wheeled machine. After tackling several builds, many of these precious friendships have happily carried him through to present times.
Having owned everything from a 3000GT to a Ford Lightning to the power packing Triumph Daytona 675. While these rides would hold his need for speed addiction for a while, it would ultimately be the All-American flagship, the Chevrolet Corvette that would capture his heart and soul.
Upon purchasing his dream machine, Macrae quickly set out to make it his own. In a position that often requires traveling, Macrae enlisted a close gearhead buddy to begin helping him look for the parts needed to bring his vision to life. As the parts started piling up, the conversion from the base model to a Z06 body began. With a fridge full of beer, some good eats, and a couple of days of free time, Gordon’s project was well underway.
By the end of the weekend the newly transformed Vette rolled off the garage floor and onto the warm pavement on a set of black Grand Sport wheels, the body of a Z06, and the addition of a T tops. The process had now begun. With an exterior foundation to work from he later dropped on an aftermarket carbon fiber hood, sideskirts, wings, and a center console to match along with a carbon fiber gauge cluster and Lloyds “Jakeskull” floormats for the interior.
Powering this 850 rwhp beast is an LSX race block–402 Stroker, backed by a TR6060 transmission, along with a Methanol injection system. Additionally, he installed a D1 Procharger with Dallas performance flip drive, 80LB Injectors, Breathless performance headers, Wiseco forged pistions, oversized intercooler and aluminum radiator, along with an a X pipe and Corsa track exhaust for an angry rumble to finish off this sick creation.
