Losing traction and getting a little sideways can be fun, but losing total control of a vehicle rarely ends without some form of damage and serious injury. Unfortunately, the driver of a 4th generation Camaro SS lost control of his vehicle and had to be airlifted to a local hospital. The Westerly Sun reported the crash that left Thomas Crowley’s silver SS on its roof in a field adjacent to the road.
According to the information provided to The Westerly Sun, Crowley had been traveling east on Pequot Trail in Stonington, Rhode Island when his SS strayed from the lane before flying over a stone wall bordering to the road. Eventually the car flipped and came to rest upside down in a field leaving Crowley trapped in the remains of the Camaro.
Pieces and parts of the wrecked SS littered the field and both sides of the wall when emergency personnel arrived at the site of the accident. Once emergency workers arrived on the scene Crowley was freed from the crushed Camaro. After receiving treatment from EMS workers Crowley was transported to a Life Star helicopter that would take him to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. “Police said there was no indication that another car was involved,” which rules out the obvious street racing question. According to a comment posted by user “12Roxy,” Pequot Trail is known for being a dangerous road where drivers often speed.
