Have you ever wondered where the Z28 as it relates to the Chevy Camaro Z28 came from? “Z28” was actually the Regular Production Order (RPO) code for the performance-enhancing Camaro package that would go on to become a muscle car legend, and to this day GM uses the same RPO method to identify specific car packages and builds.

This includes the 2016 Chevy Camaro, which saw its RPO codes published to the Internet earlier this month, although the formatting didn’t make it easy to seek out code queries. Thankfully a user over at the Camaro6 forums using the handle Sledgehammer70 took the time to seek out all of the 2016 Camaro’s RPO codes and put them into an easy-to-read, alphabetical list. It’s enthusiasts like this that make the automotive hobby the great hobby that it is.

There aren’t really any “gotcha” reveals in the RPO codes, like the impending return of the aforementioned Z28 or ZL1 Camaro packages, though there is the ZN2 package which is…a lighting and convenience package. More interestingly, the F55 RPO code stands for the optional Magnetic Ride Control, with UV6 denoting the heads-up display that will be offered on the 2016 model.

We also get to see that the new 2.0 liter turbo four-cylinder will get the LTG engine code, while the 8-speed automatic transmission is designated as MX0, and FE3 stands for the performance suspension package. This more than likely isn’t even a complete list either, and GM often waits until the second model year of a new car to roll out the big guns. But for you car nerds who like to know every option and code there is, open wide and chow down, thanks to a fellow Camaro enthusiast.
