2012 Centennial Edition Corvette Z06 at Barrett-Jackson

[1]

General Motors has more than a century of history behind it, and since its introduction, GM’s flagship vehicle the Corvette has been a worldwide benchmark for performance and driving excellence. To commemorate this milestone achievement, and to celebrate Corvette’s racing heritage, GM has announced the arrival of the 2012 Centennial Edition Corvette Z06.

[2]This Saturday, April 9th, GM will auction off the first Centennial Edition Z06 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida. The auction will start with no reserve, and GM plans to donate all of the proceeds to pediatric cancer research. To add to the historical significance of this particular car, it will be the 100th 2012 Corvette produced and its VIN number will end in “00100”.

Starting this summer the Centennial Edition package will be offered as an option on all models of the Corvette. All Centennial Edition Corvettes will only be offered in the sinister all-black paint scheme you see on the first one. Of course, they will also feature an array of special 100th Anniversary badges. Bright red calipers and a red time attack style pin stripe on the wheels finish off the aggressive look. The Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension option will also be included as a part of the package. Pricing details of the package haven’t been released yet, but if you’ve got the cash, this could be your opportunity to own a very special part of automotive history.
