In 2009 General Motors brought the Chevy Camaro back from the dead, and since then it has been an unqualified sales success, outpacing both the Mustang and Challenger handily for a full two years now. To help drum up hype for the Camaro, GM brought three concept Camaros to the 2009 SEMA show. Among them was the dark-but-not-black “Dusk Edition” Camaro.
We thought we had seen the last of this dusky Camaro, but a recent post on Camaro5 from a Chevy dealership employee indicates GM may in fact be bringing the Dusk Edition Camaro to market as soon as this year.
The unnamed employee claims he was searching for foglight bezels through the dealership, when he came across three different trim options. In addition to the standard black bezels and 45th anniversary bezels, another product popped up for the “Dusk Edition” Camaro. And it wasn’t the only Dusk Edition part to pop up.
At the 2009 SEMA Show, the Dusk Edition Camaro wore 21-inch wheels, a Camaro SS spoiler, special ground effects, and a Berlin Blue paint job with contrasting black trim. It should be noted that this was the same show that GM also showcased the Synergy Green Camaro, which later entered production as a limited edition model. Other parts that show up in the system for the Dusk Edition Camaro include front and rear seats and shifter boots for now. These parts are not yet available for order, but are rather “in production.” When they hit dealerships is anybody’s guess.
Could the Dusk Edition Camaro be the next special edition GM lines up for its muscle car? We wouldn’t be opposed to it, that’s for sure.
