What do you think
What do you think will make the best entry level powertrain for the 2010 Camaro?

The 252hp 3.6L DOHC V6

The 260hp direct injection turbocharged 2.0l 4 cylinder

With the ever rising cost of fuel, I would go for the 260 hp 4 banger. It makes more than the 6 in both ranges and is better on the pocket. It also looks like it holds on to the torque longer than the 6. But, it just wouldn't be right to hear the import car exhaust sound from an American muscle platform. But of course with the way things are going, we might get a reintroduction to those diahatsu 3 cyl. squirrels. I would even bet those engineers have found a way for that engine to produce more power than the 4. Go figure.

If they could make it sing baritone like the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, I would have no problem with the 4 banger tone, but I agree that between the two choices above, the 2.0L Turbo would be the best base engine. On the other hand if they could squeeze a little more juice from 3.6L V6 VVT. similar to the 3.7-liter in the Infinity G-37 (3,696cc V6, 330 hp @ 7,000 rpm, 270 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm). Now that would be a nice upgrade from the base 2.0L Turbo.

I agree 100%. Based on what's submitted - the 2.0L turbo is the better choice. But hell, a turbocharged 4-cyl in a Camaro.

Just don't know how I feel about that. I feel the entire world is going sport compact, eco-friendly.

Arr.

How about a 327 cid like I have in my 69 RS? Now that sounds like a motor.

Oops, it only has 210hp, it sounds ok, but really with a power-glide trans. it is slow and not even really very economical to drive.

So a 260 hp turbo 4cyl (for a base motor) doesn't sound that bad to me. BTW the 327 cid 210hp wasn't even the base motor in 1969, I think the base model engine was a 250 cid inline-6, with 155hp.

Hard for me to swallow a 4 cyl turbo. I get the HP thing, just imagine the exhaust note. THIS is what I think of:
