Homebuilt Hot Rod - What does that mean to you? To most it is a great American past time and it is something any enthusiasts puts all their pride into. Most recently I was browsing YellowBullet and came across this member that built his 1996 Corvette with a wild turbocharged power plant. The collector’s edition Corvette may have started out life as an everyday driver, to a feared boulevard brawler that will surely scare of most anyone who pulls next to you on the freeway.

LS swaps have been on the rise but most we see are into other makes and models that are not General Motors made but this one. The 1996 Corvette has a custom built, forged 402 cubic inch that is packed inside an iron block that has been reinforced for the added boost. A T6 88mm turbo was fabricated to fit along with custom stainless steel exhaust manifolds, that were hand built by the owner of the car. The side exit exhaust may be a bold statement as to what lies beneath the hood when you are hitting the streets.
The Corvette has found its way to the dyno and in the heat it made a very respectable 847 horsepower at the rear wheels. With some street cruising, the car has proven to be very mild mannered. Plans for the future are to hit the track and shoot for a eight second time-slip to add to the collection.
