Looks like the gear drive from the Superchager Store will be a popular item this year for Christmas. NHRA had approved the gear drive for competition and with NHRA’s approval NMRA and NMCA have also approved it for certain classes. In NMRA they have released the preliminary rules and as of now they are allowing the gear drive in Super Street Outlaw and Drag Radial classes. In the NMCA the preliminary rules have it acceptable in the Super Street class. I would expect this to be a popular item once the rules are finalized, which should be coming out any day now.
The Supercharger Store gear drive helps take the load a blower puts on the crankshaft. It also helps turn the blower around in a forward facing configuration. This helps the engines live longer and improved performance. The biggest obstacle is reconfiguring the radiator location. This has not proved to be a problem, so I expect to see most racers with a gear drive next year. Jason Lee and Patrick Barnhill of Part Time Performance are offering $200 off of any gear drive ordered before the end of the year. These guys have been using the gear drive for some time now and are very experienced with setting it up.
