Sunday morning news

Finally the sun is out and it is almost getting warm. The track is hooking and the racing is getting intense. LSX Rumble Round 1 is complete and results will be posted soon.

While in the pits this morning I had the chance to talk to the driver of one of the most unique cars here this weekend. Nick Field of Houston Texas made the trip this weekend along with his Chevy Trailblazer supported by a 408 Cubic Inch Engine with a 88mm Turbo. The car ran its best time to date yesterday at 9.74 but Nick only made one qualifier due to the fact his team has three cars here this weekend. While Nick has stayed busy this weekend the team has had no major issues and has only been doing round by round maintenance to the cars. Nick plans to tune it up today and hopefully go some rounds in the Drag Radial Class.

One of Nicks teammates Mike Rhame brought his incredible Cadilac CTSV out this weekend equipped with a 6.2 L engine with a supercharger on it. Mike set the world record for the fastest Cadilac with a 10.76 at 130 mph last night in qualifying. Mike is very pleased with the track and has had a very smooth going weekend. Nick is not changing much on the car and planning on going some rounds in the LSX Rumble Class.

Jim Blanco may have made one of the longest hauls of anyone this weekend to make it here. Jim Made the trek down from New Hampshire with his beautiful 2006 Corvette. The engine built by 2lane performance and tuned by Vengeance this weekend has been spot on for the team. The team claims to have no major problems this weekend has even ran their personal best. Jim dialed in with an 11.50 and qualified with a 11.55 the team came out first round today and ran near perfect with a 11.51. Jim says the track is hooking and he plans to stay in the completion all day long.

With near identical reaction times Dennis Pearson (31) and Damon Sampson (13) were bound to be a good race down the 1320 but Sampson broke out by about .3 seconds will Pearson went near perfect with a 10.52.

David Saunders of Houston Texas lost on a huge hole shot by Clay Alford, Saunders was dead late with a.553 to Alford’s .099 light. Saunders ran near perfect but was not able to make up for his bad light.

John Schaeffer caught a break today when he was dead late on the tree but in the other lane Rob Farley was a little to early. John managed to run a 10.02 on a 10.00 Index and advanced to the next round.

Jimmy Blanco from Pembroke New Hampshire made the haul and showed today that he was here to win. Jimmy ran an 11.51 on his 11.50 Index eliminating Joshua Ramirez of Lake Jackson, Texas.

In the Pits

The Ohio Boys racing team is here this weekend and running strong. The team consisting of Mark Kohler, Mike Brown and Steve Turley have shown to be strong all weekend long. Steve Turley Qualified Number one followed by Mark Kohler and the third team mate Mike Brown qualified 5th. The team is based of three single turbo charged entries. The teams feel that they can all improve on times while the track and weather have been providing great racing conditions. Kohler driving the Orange Trans Am set his personal best time in qualifying and is looking to improve in today’s eliminations. Turley qualified number one and is looking to stay at the top throughout the day. This is a team that can do some serious damage in the class of Drag Radial.

Radial and All Motor Notes

In round one of LSX Drag Radial Mike Brown of Ohio went an amazing 7.51 at 190 mph to take out the number one qualifier Steve Turley. Mark Kohler of Ohio had a competition bye but used it to his advantage as he ran a 7.69 at 188 mph.

Steven Fereday of Houston, Texas has been having some problems this weekend but is working through them .The engine is only running on 6 of the 8 cylinders but the team managed to run 7.85 at 183 mph. This is a brand new car for the team and they are pleased with the results of the car so far. The team is very happy with the track conditions and are hoping to run some mid 7 second passes by the end of the weekend.

Jim Filipowski ran a stout 7.75 at about 197 mph to take the win over Nick Field with the wild Turbo Charged Blazer.

In All Motor Joe Huneycutt had no problem getting the car to hook up as he had it on the bumper to about the 330 and then crossed into the other lane. That giving David Lezear the win into the final round of All Motor.

Judson Massingill of Houston, Texas ran an amazing 8.58 at 157 mph to take the win over Jon Moyers and advanced to the Final.

Sunday Elimination Notes

In the LSX Shootout True Street Class Doug Ring managed to run an average of 8.91 to take the victory in his beautiful Black Corvette. Doug ran a 8.81, 8.86 and a 9.05 throughout the day.

Dustin Powell ran slightly under his 10.00 Index in round two but fortunately his 9.98 bettered John Schaeffer’s 9.90 advancing him too the next round of eliminations.

We have been down for quite some time and there is more racing to go, the track is getting sprayed and well be on our way.

Monday at the Races!

That's right, it's Monday and we are here. It's like the NMRA Bowling Green finals from two weeks ago all over again. The track got too cold and the time was getting too late. Today is the finals for a few classes and semi/quarter finals for most. Stay tuned to the coverage through the first part of the day.
