There is a heavy overcast now. It looks like it wants to rain but there is none in the forecast. This has allowed the air and track to cool off a bit and a the cars are running faster then they have all weekend. Everyone will be stepping up a lot next round.
ALL MOTOR
Joe Huneycutt ran the fastest lap of his career and for the LSX All Motor class with an 8.86 @ 153 MPH. He is leaning it out as he feels the track can take a lot more. Next round he will have Kevin Patterson who ran a 9.30
Jud Massingill is still having clutch issues. After the Camaro launched, it came up on the limiter in first and then ran the rest of the pass hooked up. This netted a 9.53 @ 139.66. The SAM crew will be going back to work, adjusting the clutch. Jud will race Chris Fowler in the next round, who ran a 9.74.
HEADS UP
Paul Major finally has it all figured out. He ran the fastest pass of LSX Shootout history (and personal best with a spec motor) with a 7.59 @ 190.97. The team was checking over the twice rebuilt turbo and planned to put some more power to it for the next round. Paul will race Steve Turley who ran a 8.28 @ 175 MPH. Turley, who has been fast all weekend, plans to keep the tune the same and go with consistency. This will be the run to watch next round
Tom Kempf put a soft tune in his Camaro to get a solid pass down the track. He plans to put a lot more in it next round. Tom managed a 7.77 @ 187.70. He will race Jim Filipowski in the next round.
Jim Filipowski ran a solo pass to a broken Rob Valden. Jim's Camaro seemed to pop down the track, like it wasn't getting any spark. The crew was inspecting the MSD ignition system in which they replaced a pick up. Jim ran a 8.18 @ 179
Steven Fereday got a bye run into the next round due to a broken Martin Cox. Steve put down a 8.28 @ 175 MPH. Steven will have another bye run into the semi finals.
