From the what will they think of next department comes this LS1 powered Mitsubishi EVO which is making it's way around the internet. It all was started when the owner posted a video of his supercharged LS1 EVO doing burnouts on YouTube. He even notes, it had no tune and the supercharger belt was disconnected.
The owner is LS1Evo, and he reports, "my first try on my LS1 EVO, not tuned and without supercharger belt with stock rear end."
We think it's bad ass, and even if it's not tuned, any LSX/LS1 conversions are a step in the right direction. Obviously all of the bugs aren't worked out, but LS1Evo has been taking a pounding on import and LS1 forums alike. It's obvious that it's a RWD conversion (removed driveshaft) and the car has some traction issues.
The word is that LS1EVo comes from Saudi Arabia - although that is unconfirmed.
Some of the specs on the car were listed on a post on Digital Corvettes:
• EVO 7 with JDM EVO 9 rear bumpers
• LS1 powerplant with a Vortech Supercharger
• Rear Wheel Drive (but plans to install an AWD system)
• Designed for Drag Racing and Drifting
We'll keep a close eye on the project and see if we can get more info. We say thumbs up LS1Evo - this is a bad ride.
Wow, I wish I had that much room under-hood to play with!!
It's so tall in there (Evo engine bay) that with the front Diff out and that super tall Edelbrock manifold and throttle body, they barely had to knotch the hood, maybe better aluminum inlet ducting could have eliminated that requirement too.
Enough room in front too for a Centifugal Super-charger too, again WOW!!

We are working on a news/article listing all of the LS1 swaps we can find.. there are some wild ones!
This is freaking cool James a LS1 in an EVO WOW what is the world coming to. OK James I have found a good deal a LS1 long block for 500.00 w/ an after market cam etc. I need some information on the strength of the LS1 for the Pro Stock Class for the 2009 season.
OK thats sounds wicked!!
Its hard to believe that that beautiful sound is coming out of that little EVO.
If you close your eyes you see a camero or something like that but not a rice burner.
I say 4 thumbs up and thats including my thumb toes!!
Yo, you better look out an Ice Cream,Cab or a VW could have a LS1,LS2 or LSX 427 under the hood. The rules are different today and we all must think outside of the box when installing a motor in 2008. You never know just by listening to a car or cars any more in 2008. Forget about trying to "roll up" on some of these young people with you 60's or 70's muscle car you very well might get your feelings hurt when the traffic light turns green.
as far as the earthquake was involved imagine you were standing on a wood rope bridge crossing a ravine and you started walking on it and it started to rock all over the place for 10 seconds....well thats it nothing big. Before you knew you were in an earthquake it was done unlike your Hurricanes and F5 twisters in tornado alley.
I live like 10 minutes from James "The Grand PooBah" so we felt the same thing.
Yeah Myles I hear ya on you never know what the guy next to you has but that why you gotta build something just as sick. I got a 2003 Cobra Mustang and once the new motor gets stuffed very shortly that Snake will be 725 + RWHP so I'm ready for whatever junk is thrown at me...I hope.
I always thought of doing something like that as well maybe to a 1992 Nissan 240 SX and maybe putting a 2003-04 cobra motor with a Whipple Supercharger but I think its more headache than its worth.
If you have a shop that you can do this sort of R & D than you have the might to accomplish such a task.
Rock on to those who tackle those odd but big jobs!!
