LSX video???
Great site Brad, I'm considering a LSX for my 69 RS. The video of the 550hp build on your homepage with Nate Pritchard looks like a great option. I would like to know the pos. and neg. of that motor with EFI vs carbureted ie. tuning, performance, reliability, gas mileage, etc. Also, I'm interested in cost, I know you can't be too specific on prices because of machine work, labor etc. but parts on that build would be nice to know, $6k-8k, $8k-10k, $10k- up? Any info you could provide would help me budget this project.

At 550 hp, I think that you can run either an aluminum block or the iron block they used in the movie. If you want aluminum, the LS7 crate may be a good option. I am bias to EFI, but a Carb can certainly work. I believe a well tuned MPI EFI system will get much better fuel economy than a Carb can touch. They offer intakes which will allow you to run a carb if you so choose. I would plan on paying around 15k for the engine shown in the video. I think you can get a crate LS-7 for about 13K. There are some other less exspensive crate engines like the new LS3 which makes 440 for like 7k.

Hey, Brad, love the articles. I think they are great. I can't wait to see what else gets done here. Speaking of getting done. BJ is in the shop working on the sleeper Nova Project Swinger. Banging the hell out the floor fans. He really needs a plasma cutter for this job. At least it would save my ears. Keep up the good work. For those of you who don't know, Brad is an A-1 kinda guy.

Yeah man, I think we should put an LSX on the dirt track with a very talented dirt track racer at the wheel.
