We love us some wagons. There is just something cool about turning a grocery getter into a drag machine, even more so when it happens to be a classic woody wagon. Classic cars prior to the 1950’s actually made the back-halves of their wagons out of wood, either from the factory or through third-party contractors. But safety regulations effectively ended the “real” woodies.
Still, this 1950 Ford Woody caught our eye on
eBay not just for the level of detail, but the LS1 engine that powers it.

Ford was actually the last major manufacturer to produce woody wagons straight from the factory, though very little of the original car appears to remain. The entire chassis has been replaced by an
Art Morrison air ride chassis with Level Pro. Out back a Ford 9” with 3:70 gears provides lots of oomph off the line. All the axles are equipped with
Wilwood disc brakes and the steering system has been upgraded with a rack and pinion system (yes, this car predates those).
The LS1 engine is backed by a 4L60E automatic transmission to make cruising a breeze, because this is definitely a cruising car. The swanky leather interior, suede headliner, completely modified dashboard and kickin’ sound system ensure this car can handle long cruises (though those low gears will kill gas mileage). This sweet woody ride can be yours for $140,000.
