Corvette ZR-1 dynos at 535 horsepower stock
Much ado has been made about the Corvette ZR-1, which lays claim to the most powerful engine ever put into an American sports car. GM claims the Eaton-supercharged 6.2 liter LS9 engine makes 638hp, but that says nothing for how much power the 'Vette puts to the pavement. But now we have a much better idea thanks to the owner of not one, but two ZR-1 'Vettes who put them on a dyno bone stock.

The first ZR-1 had all of 30 miles on it, and put down 530rwhp and 508ft-lbs of torque. After some quick tuning, they got an extra 37hp and 24ft-lbs of torque for a total of 567hp and 532ft-lbs of torque in SAE adjusted numbers. The second Vette to be tested had 200 miles and a slipping clutch when it laid down 540hp, and after tuning they got 557hp. Averaged together the stock ZR-1 made 535rwhp without being touched, right in line with a 15% transmission loss.
