The word is Cadillac’s new CTS-V is a real performance car. One that will include a Corvette ZR-1 LS9 engine that is detuned to a 556 horsepower. The V-8 engine is force fed with one of Eaton’s new TVS superchargers that are incredibly quiet. GM feels a 10% boost in horsepower would be easy in the hands of a good tuner. That would put the family grocery getter over 600hp! The highlights of the performance numbers are 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, quarter mile in around 12 seconds and a top speed of 191 mph for the manual transmission (175 for the six speed automatic). The CTS-V is not light at 4,300 pounds, but you do not notice the weight with 551 pound-feet of torque at only 3,800 rpm will help that problem. All that for a price believed to be under $65,000. Honey, it’s time for you to get a second job because we are getting a new family car.
