The new G8 has been making news for some times now. With that winding down GM decided to keep wetting out mouths with an announcement of the 2009 G8 GXP.
Power will be coming from the now very well known 6.2L LS3 out of the Corvette. Don’t expect Corvette power from it but with 402 hp and 402 lb-ft torque my guess is this is the same version of this engine that will be in the new Camaro as well. With a 6,600 rpm redline screaming into you choice of the standard 6L80 six-speed auto or optional Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual this car is going to be a blast to drive.
But the fun doesn’t stop under the hood. With a performance tuned suspension and 14-inch vented, four-piston Brembos on the front this is a serious performer. Along with some interior touches, the exterior styling was upgraded-including a new front fascia with lower splitter and a rear fascia diffuser. Pricing has not been set but expect it to be a few thousand more than the GT’s $29,995.
