Last year was the first year for the LSX Shootout that was featured as part of the NMCA Memphis Finals. The first year response was overwhelming. GM Performance Parts decided to do it again this year as the LSX market is growing at a record high. Multiple companies teamed up with GMPP to bring a total prize purse of over $60,000. Multiple companies have posted well over 1500 horsepower with the LS family of engines, that proves even more that the LSX is here to stay in the drag racing community.
This year powerTV will be back at the finals in full force. A crew of five covering editorial and video will be bringing you all the LSX and NMCA coverage from the weekend.

Heads Up Classes
The LSX Shootout’s heads up classes include LSX Drag Radial and LSX All Motor.
Drag Radial is a 7 second class that allows any sort of power adder. Being the fastest class leads to the biggest prize: an LS376 crate motor and $3000. The LS376 is GM's 480 cubic inch LS3 crate motor that comes equipped with a Hot cam (last year it was a LS7 crate engine). With a street price of over $6,000 on the engine, puts the total winning package close to $10,000. All Motor puts the top engine builders against each other is they squeeze 8 second passes out of these naturally aspirated small blocks. The winner will receive $2,000, and yet another LS376 crate engine courtesy of GM Performance Parts.
Index Classes
Another feature of the LSX Shootout is their Index classes. There are two classes fitted for a run-what-you-brung street style LS vehicles, LSX Showdown and new for this year, the LSX Truck and SUV class. The separates the cars from the trucks as the LSX Showdown is strictly for cars. The winner of LSX Showdown will receive $1,000, and a LSX Bowtie Block courtesy of GM Performance Parts. The winner of LSX Truck & SUV will receive an LS327/327 crate engine and $1000. Both these classes will allow you into the NMCA True Street category for free durning this race weekend. You will be required to drive a 30 mile cruise and run 3 back to back passes for the True Street competition. If an LS powered vehicle manages to win the True Street class, the purse is doubled and GM will give out yet another LSX block.
Dyno Challenege
Have a LS motor that might not be suitable for the track or maybe your in the race and want to win another $1000? Then the LSX Dyno Shootout is for you. GM will be supplying the dyno and looking for the highest horsepower LSX vehicle for the cash prize.
Special Two Day Car Show
There will also be a special 2 day show & shine with over 70 awards for LS powered vehicles. Daily awards include: best LS-powered late-model Camaro, Firebird, GTO, Corvette, Cadillac, Trailblazer and vintage LS-powered specialty vehicle; best paint, interior, engine, and stance; editor’s choice awards from GM High-Tech Performance, FSC and LS1Tech.com; Top 20 LS Muscle Cars; 6’ LSX Best of Show trophies on Sunday only.
