Just when you thought the American economy is bad, it must be really bad over seas. Now some people will do anything for a buck. What’s even worse is what these brits will do for a penny. In London’s New Oxford Street Chevrolet put up a very unique billboard to showcase the new Aveo.
The billboard was a clever way of showing that the that Aveo cost pennies, but it seems the citizens of London had a different idea. 30 minutes is all it took for the 20,000 pennies to be striped clean off of the billboard.
Chevrolet's Les Turton commented, “There have been some great car adverts before, but none that has stopped traffic and actually put money back into the motorist’s pocket so this is certainly a first. We’re glad we’ve topped up lots of people’s wallets, purses and, in some cases, rucksacks, but it would have been nice for the billboard to last a little longer than 30 minutes.”
