SEMA 2015: Trend Performance And Diamond’s Latest Piston Offerings

IMG_3648

Trend Performance and Diamond Pistons, Michigan-based manufacturers of rotating assembly and valvetrain components and accessories, are showing off their range of products here at SEMA, including their fully 2618 aluminum alloy lineup of pistons.

IMG_3655All of Diamond Pistons are a forged or billet 2618. The billet pistons are pre-heated, while the forged pistons are heat-treated during the pour of the forging. Everything is 100% machined in-house using Diamond’s own forgings.

“Anything from your small- and big-block Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, sport compact, diesel, European, we have a piston design for it,” says Steve Rhodey. “It’s a very large catalog, with a lot of part numbers, and we’ve been doing it for a very long time. We continue to expand and chase new markets. We even have a piston for the RZR here that has been stealing the show.”

Diamond couples the pistons with a Trend wrist pin with their DLC coating, or TP1 series material wrist pins, making what Rhodey calls “the ultimate piston.” Diamond offers a moly dry film lubricant-based coating, as well as a ceramic top coating, and a hard-anodized coating that’s popular in nitrous and blown alcohol racing applications, available as options on their many pistons. All of the coatings, as well as the anodizing, are all done in-house.

At SEMA, Diamond and Trend have several new pistons on display for the sport compact markets, including those for Subaru, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Toyota, and GM LT-1, LT-4, and big-block Chevrolet, as well as Ford EcoBoost, on the domestic side. They also have a number of diesel pistons that will be available in the near-term.
