SEMA 2013: ProCharger’s i-1 Supercharger Is First Of Its Kind

ProCharger produces some of the industry’s best superchargers for almost any performance application imaginable. Their new i-1 supercharger is an industry first with its compact design and programmable boost ratios.

With the i-1 being programmable, the user can set boost levels on the fly, all from the cockpit of their vehicle. “It’s really simple, you just plug in your boost curve in 250 engine rpm increments and there’s even a custom mode, which you can access via touchscreen,” stated Ken Jones of ProCharger. Personalized display screens and data logging are also available with the optional touchscreen controller. Programmable boost is delivered by an extremely durable variable ratio transmission design with a rugged dry hybrid drive.

With its centrifugal design, ProCharger claims the i-1 delivers higher compressor efficiency than screw blowers and utilizes the most effective intercooling, avoiding the heat transfer associated in engine-top mounting or an exhaust interface. Set at 7.5 psi straight from ProCharger, the i-1 is designed for stock and modified applications and can handle up to 900 hp. “You can hot-lap high 10’s on a bone-stock 5.0L Mustang,” stated Jones. The i-1’s design produces immediate response, even at low engine rpm, without any lag or boost falloff at high engine rpm.

ProCharger’s Mustang in their booth was making 650+ hp at 7.5 psi, so you can just imagine the possibilities with a few other bolt-ons and a quick tune on the optional touch screen unit, or even their new PC interface, which is available with their complete i-1 kit.

The i-1 is also available with ProCharger’s optional 3-year supercharger warranty, which makes this unit one of the most virtually thoughtless purchases that an enthusiast can make for their vehicle. Who wouldn’t want an awesome supercharger with a factory-backed warranty? Check out their website for more information and pricing on these innovative superchargers.
