We’ve reached the point in the 5th Gen Camaro’s timeline when several things are happening – the early cars are beginning to come out of warranty so owners are becoming more apt to modify them, they’re being sold or turned in off-lease and ending up in the hands of their second owners, and those brave early adopters who threw superchargers, turbo kits, and nitrous systems at them have found the limits of the stock drivetrain the hard way.
One of those limits is the durability of the stock limited-slip differential, which can fail catastrophically and, in the process, take out the ring and pinion, axle half-shafts, and even the differential case as well. Auburn Gear’s new cone-clutch limited slip differential is designed to withstand a level of stress the stock LSD just can’t endure, and come back for more.
It features a four-pinion high strength billet steel design, and fits all V8 Camaros from 2010-up. It’s designed for stock-style 32-spline axles, and will accommodate 3.27:1, 3.45:1, and 3.73:1 gear sets. The innovative cone-clutch system offers better durability and less complexity than other options while providing excellent torque bias and great road manners.
It’s a drop-in upgrade for any stock or modified 5th Gen Camaro, and a good investment against a diff full of busted metal after one too many hard launches at the dragstrip.
