PRI 2015: Aeromotive’s New Terminator, EFI Pro Stock Fuel Pumps

The folks at Aeromotive have been putting in the hours needed to churn out a host of hot new products this year, for everything from drag racing, to street rod and diesel markets, and everything in between. Here at PRI, it’s the former that’s taken center stage, as the company shows off its new Terminator and Pro Stock fuel pumps for the straight-line racers.

The Terminator is a spur gear-design, mechanical pump that comes in flow ranges between 16 and 32 gallons per minute. These are designed for high-end, high-horsepower mechanical injection or electronic fuel injection engines that will be running an alternate form of fuel — ethanol or methanol, for example. According to Aeromotive’s Brett Clow, a conversion will also be available for nitromethane, for lower-horsepower race vehicles (ie. not blown nitro Top Fuel and Funny Cars) nostalgia nitro and similar vehicles. This particular pump will soon be utilized on our own Project BlownZ radial tire Camaro next season, as part of a switch to methanol, owing to the versatility of the pump.

Obviously, in an all-out drag racing environment, in a class like Pro Stock, we need something that will be lightweight and produce a lot of volume at high pressure and not draw a lot of current. – Brett Clow, Aeromotive

The Pro Stock pump, meanwhile, is an all-new product that Aeromotive’s engineering team has been developing over the last several months, to coincide with the NHRA’s mandated new EFI guidelines. Aeromotive has been working with the Elite Motorsports team to help design and test the pump.

“We’ve been working to develop in conjunction with NHRA specifications with fuel pumps for the class as they now migrate into electronic fuel injection,” Clow says. It uses existing technology in our pumping mechanisms in our Pro Series pumps, and integrates a brushless-style motor, which is designed to do the job with less current.
