Chris Alston’s Chassisworks was on hand displaying a number of their hot products for the street car and drag racing markets, including the latest and greatest bolt-on swap components at this year’s PRI tradeshow, including new Fab-9 rear end housings and an optional torque arm setup. “Stepping up to a Ford 9-inch in your third or fourth Gen Camaro is a simple bolt-on swap with this kit,” says Alston Sr. “This system is a significant improvement to the stock suspension configuration,” he added.

The system allows for many different options depending on the application and intent of the vehicle. We saw a drag-racing style torque arm for ’82-02 Camaros that were wide enough to allow for a fabricated Strange rearend, which you can also purchase at Chris Alston Chassisworks.
The Fab-9 cross adapters are the interesting components in the entire kit. One adapter allows for Chassiswork’s torque arms while the other handles aftermarket torque arms to the Fab-9 housing.
The rear housings are a direct fit and are offered with anti-roll bar mounts, even for drag-racing applications and several different housing width options. Housing can be ordered with or without torque arm mounting tabs.
The Fab-9 housing accepts stock springs, shocks, panhard bar mounts and utilizes a specific adapter cross welded structure that securely mounts the Chassisworks or OEM-style torque arms.
Also offered in the kit is a torque arm crossmember kit that includes transmission mount bracket and torque arm mounts.
Now there is no reason not to make those rear-end changes that will add performance to your race car. Whether you want to change the width of your wheelbase, strengthen the suspension, add some adjustability to your suspension or improve the entire rearend design, these new components from Chris Alston’s Chassisworks are a great choice.
