It’s Monday once more, and that means another five days and 40+ hours of laboring towards some idealistic notion of the American dream. For a lot of people, the dream involves a nice house with a white picket fence, 2.5 kids, and a couple of pets. Of course you’re going to need a car to get to that job and keep the dream alive, and not just any car will always do.
With the 2016 Chevy Corvette configurator going live last week, maybe we’ll find a little more motivation to make this month’s corporate goals. Let the dreaming commence.
It’s feels like we’ve been waiting forever for the 2016 Corvette, and in truth it’s (likely) going to be the first model year for the new C7 that won’t be preceded by a mad rush, order backlog, and price gouging. It’s also our first chance to fully-spec one of the handful of limited edition Corvette Z06 C7.R models, which will cost you a cool $111,400 before adding a single option. In addition to the C7.R, the 2016 Corvette also welcomes other new additions such as the Twilight Blue, Spice Red, and Jet Black Suede interior packages.
Of course there’s still the Z51 performance package, which when combined with the fully-loaded 3LT package can cost nearly as much as a Z06 (about $71,000 vs $79,000). However, a fully-loaded Corvette Z06 with the 650 hp supercharged LT1 under the hood will set you back over $120,000, more than twice the base MSRP for a no-frills Corvette.
With another full work week to look forward to, may we suggest taking some time to remind yourself while you’re working so hard. If not for love and family, then at least an overpowered Corvette, right?
